Beverly & Chatham, MA – SV Design received the 'Best Commercial Design' Award at IFDA New England’s 75th Diamond Awards Gala at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston recently.
The annual International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) awards represent the highest level of excellence in the interior design community, honoring those who advance the profession and communicate the impact of interior design within the New England design Community.
SV Design’s senior project manager, Izabela Kennedy, was presented with 'Best Commercial Design' for the transformation of a corporate office’s human resources department into a vibrant, interactive workspace.
“Izzy and the SV Design commercial team worked extensively to reconfigure and design our client’s office space to perfectly represent the company’s brand and approach to the spaces they occupy,” stated Jen Hocherman, Associate Principal. “Every detail from lighting and materials to color and graphics were intentionally selected to encourage engagement and collaboration among its employees.”
Ms. Kennedy led the project through a deep understanding of the client’s brand initiatives and their desire to attract a younger demographic of employees. Bold pops of color, flameless glass wall systems, and large wall graphics depicting the company’s culture were incorporated to create a modern, welcoming atmosphere. Carefully assigned adjacencies between departments allowed for additional workstations, conference rooms, and open-concept meeting spaces.
In addition, custom lighting and the reflectivity of double height glazing visually doubled the lobby size, and long runs of narrow, recessed lights were utilized to alter the perception of a low and narrow existing structure.
