SV Design designed a wellness and recreation center for the Riverview School in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Riverview, a private, coeducational boarding school with students from around the world, provides secondary education and post-high school transition programs to students with language, learning, and cognitive disabilities. The center has become an integral part of Riverview's educational offerings and furthers their mind, body, and nutrition goals. The 30,000 square foot building includes a Fitness and Recreation Center for students and faculty and a new Nutrition Center for the students. Having these vital services in one location, centrally located, is transformational for both students and staff. The wellness center's front covered walkway joins the campus's main circulation paths and provides easy access for daily use. SV Design seamlessly integrated the building's detailing with the New England Village Vernacular of the entire campus. This new spotlight project features similar exterior detailing used on SV's previously designed James Center while housing a gymnasium, spin studio, yoga room, fitness spaces, locker rooms, and running track. The project was approved by the Cape Cod Commission, which regulates buildings of more significant size throughout the Cape to ensure they will be aesthetically in keeping with the region. The new center is a welcoming and engaging addition to the Riverview campus and mission.
