Groundbreaking for Supportive Housing at 21 Oxford Street in Lynn

Lynn, MA — SV Design recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a new supportive housing community at 21 Oxford Street in Lynn, developed by Commonwealth Land Trust (CLT). The project will provide 40 studio apartments designed to support individuals currently experiencing homelessness, offering safe, stable housing paired with on-site services.

The five-story building will provide approximately 28,665 square feet of finished space in downtown Lynn. The building will include 40 thoughtfully designed studio units, each averaging approximately 350 square feet. Every apartment will feature a private full bathroom and kitchenette, creating comfortable, independent living spaces that support dignity and long-term stability.

To ensure residents have access to the resources they need, the project includes dedicated office space for case workers on the first level. Supportive services will be provided in partnership with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, helping residents maintain long-term stability.

Sustainability and long-term performance are central to the project’s design. The building is being designed to achieve Passive House certification, incorporating high-performance construction and energy-efficient systems to minimize operating costs and environmental impact. The project will feature full electrification of heating, cooling, and domestic hot water systems along with an on-site solar array, scheduled to be operational at building opening.

Located in a walkable neighborhood in downtown Lynn, 21 Oxford Street will provide residents with access to public transportation, employment opportunities, and community services. Commonwealth Land Trust will serve as both the developer and long-term property manager.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on March 4, 2026, brought together project partners, City of Lynn officials, funders, and community organizations to celebrate the start of construction.
